Farmstead is a relatively new restaurant in St. Helena right across from Taylor’s Refresher in a huge old barn next to a nursery. Whew. It’s a pretty cool spot and the food was hearty and tasty. Don’t plan on doing much of anything afterwards — all you’ll want to do is lay down and enjoy the feeling of being stuffed.
To start, we had the Marrow, Grits with Squash and some Meatballs. All delicious, especially the marrow, my lord. So much flavor!
I had the special meat dish of the day, a Grass Fed Farm Fresh Ribeye. It was tender, perfectly medium rare and cooked in a delicious olive oil and spice marinade.
And for those of you who don’t know or understand what marrow is, here’s a close-up.
