Lunch at Cotogna

Cotogna served very delicious, locally sourced food.  The restaurant is also awesome because in the seating area there is an open fireplace where they cook various dishes and a wood burning pizza oven.  And it’s quite reasonable.  We sampled the squid salad, wood oven mussels, steak (I believe it was flank – cooked perfectly) and ricotta stuffed zucchini flours (coated in rice flour — gluten-free!).  I’d go back.  One of the best lunches I’ve had in San Francisco.

Wine Tasting at Quixote

This is my favorite winery in Napa. Its in the Stags Leap district off Silverado and it was designed by Hundertwasser. Their Perite Syrah is legendary and the tour is also great. The place is like a museum too with art everywhere.

My first time at Bluestem Brasserie

Daaaaaaaammmmmmn. Are you kidding me. Why did it take so damn long for this place to open? Its kinda the place Ive been dreaming about. Local wines on tap, great beer selection, good drinks and a delicious, original menu.

We had a set, family-style meal for a little family get together. House-cured pastrami sandwiches, crispy duck confit salad with poached duck egg, whole roasted Cyprus dorade, corn and fava succotash, green beans with almonds, fries, and cookie jars. And mimosas. Service: 5 stars. And for dinner this place is poppin. Probably smart to make a reservation. Or go for a drink and relax in the lounge area.

Mission Chinese…. Worth it?

Not really.  The appetizers were great: Crispy Eel Rolls, Pork Belly.  Everything else tasted the same: so spicy it was impossible to taste anything other than FIRE. Our faces were sweating the whole time; not in a good way.  Go late and go for the appetizers and the dumplings (I didn’t get to try them but I hear they’re great).  And beware, the later you go the more likely they’ll be out if dumplings.
